The latest updates on information selling and running an online infoproduct business

Expand your information products

Having an information product is one thing, but it will only lead to limited sales. If you expand your infoproducts you can make more money. But if you simply provide an expanded book, you will probably not succeed. What you need to do is to turn your book into a range of options which people can buy in addition to the book. For instance you could run a one-day seminar, using the book's content as the focus for the day. Or you could provide even more in-depth information in a weekend 'butt camp'. There's also the option of making the material suitable for one-to-one coaching. You should have a couple of keynote presentations related to your ebook as well. In other words, turn your ebook into a range of speaking materials. That way you'll get speaking engagements from people who have already read your ebook and you'll get ebook sales from people who attend your speaking engagements.

Look after your existing infoproduct customers

Have you heard of the Pareto Principle? That's a mathematical 'law' which suggests that 80% of something arises from 20% of something else. So, in web site terms this means that 80% of your sales will come from 20% of your customers. But that is only true if you look after them. The only way this rule is true for information selling web sites is if people buy additional products from you - if they become 'repeat' customers. Far too much effort for infoproduct creators appears to be in gaining new customers - web site traffic, GoogleAds etc. No matter how many people you attract, you'll only get one sale per person unless you have other items you can sell them. And they will only continue to buy from you if you develop a relationship with them. This means providing ongoing support, ideas and information using an autoresponder system, at the very least. Look after your existing infoproduct customers and the Pareto Principle will work.

Get your free reports listed elsewhere

Throughout the Internet there are dozens of sites which list free items. You can get anything from a free book, to free jewellery. These sites attract millions of viewers. If you have free items, such as ebooks and reports, you ought to get listed by the freebie sites. If your free products are on such sites, you'll gain traffic - and potential customers. If you go to Google and just search for 'freebies' you'll get a whole host of sites you can submit your free reports to.

Provide your ebooks in printed format

Some people don't like ebooks. There's a surprise. Some people prefer to have a printed book. They like to read in bed, or on the train, for instance. They don't want to have to take a computer with them and they don't want to print out hundreds of pages at their cost. So what they want is a book! Now you can easily convert your ebook into a printed book. It will cost you less than $10 a book, which means you can easily make a profit from sales of traditional books.
